#24 Crossfit Reaction from a D-Mom

Scott Benner

D-Mom Aileen Grabill has a perspective on the Crossfit/Diabetes uproar that she wants to share - and she does so with aplomb.

#23 Jack's Mom and Dad

Scott Benner

Beth and Tung Tran's son Jack was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes six months ago at the age of two (While Beth was 8 months pregnant).

This episode is a fantastic look into the first few months of life with type 1 diabetes as well as an eye opening (for me) look about how things have changed since Arden's diagnosis.

Beth and Jack in the Hospital

I was heartened by how the Tran family is embracing diabetes technology and the diabetes community online. Moreover, I was elated to hear about how their physicians made the family aware of technology and Internet based type 1 diabetes communities.

Spend an hour with this delightful family - learn which Pixar movie characters their kids are named after, feel their positive outlook, hear how a Facebook group has helped them with T1 and immerse yourself in their geekdom (Tran mention's Princess Leia's bikini a lot).

#22 Surviving Everest with Type 1 Diabetes - part 2

Scott Benner

Svati Narula is a 23 year old person with type 1 diabetes who traveled to Mount Everest only to be caught in a deadly avalanche - Part Two of Two.

This two part episode is a conversation with the mother of Svati Narula a 23 year old writer who lives with type 1 diabetes. In the spring of 2015 Svati traveled to Mount Everest where she was caught in an avalance when an earthquake shook the magastic mountain. Her story, told here from her mother's perspective, is one that should not be missed. Part one is here.
