Next Steps

The days and weeks after a type 1 diabetes diagnosis may be frightening and confusing. You will be inundated with medical jargon, complicated care plans and the reality of injecting insulin. I am here to promise you that those feeling will pass and calm will return. The sooner that you become educated about thoughtful management concepts, the sooner that peace can come. You have to empower yourself and your family with good information that is easy to understand. Only then will you be able to make the good insulin management decisions that will result in healthy, anxiety free days. If I can do it… so can you!

Who am I?

My name is Scott Benner and my daughter Arden was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2006 at the age of two. My family has been where you are and we know the way back. One year after Arden’s diagnosis I began writing this blog to share what I was learning about life with type 1. Along the way I ‘figured out’ type 1 and in 2015 I launched the Juicebox Podcast so that I could more easily share the concepts that we employ every day. I am very proud that the Juicebox Podcast has over 1.2 million downloads and is absolutely free. The show changes lives, lowers A1cs and helps people all over the world to find stability.

Please believe that there is a calm and healthy life waiting for you. My daughter is a happy and healthy teenager whose A1c has been between 5.2 and 6.2 for over five years, with zero diet restrictions. The simple concepts that I’ve developed for using insulin are discussed every week on the Juicebox Podcast. Please take a moment to read just a few of the listener reviews (below) before you try the show.
