Diabetes Awareness Month 2013 was the most popular month in the six year history of Arden's Day, surpassing April 2013 (The month my first book was released).

After Arden's Day first appeared online in 2007, it took one year to reach 1,000 views and I was so amazed that I grabbed a screen capture to mark the occasion - a lot has changed since then.

Facebook

Most months, the popular posts on the site differ from what is popular on the Facebook page. This month however they were very similar, with the exception of this post (I think it was the picture that people loved)- After School low, meet Ben and Jerrys.

...and my announcement that I'll be reviewing the Prep Pad made many of you very happy (I'm excited too!).

Twitter

The most popular topics on Twitter had to do with the Novo Nordisk shoe laces giveaway and my 'Day of Diabetes' tweets.

Thank you all so very much for your continued support and for fervently reading the site. The guy who took that screen capture of the thousandth page hit... he would have fallen off his chair if he saw how many of you read Arden's Day in November of 2013. Seriously, I'm staggered, thank you!

Arden's Day is on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Tumblr and Google+. I follow back and love hearing from all of you through these various social media channels. Stop bye and say hello. I'm @ArdensDay or ArdensDay in all places.

Now for a shameless plug: My parenting book, 'Life Is Short, Laundry Is Eternal: Confessions of a Stay-At-Home Dad' is available everywhere that books are sold and would make a perfect holiday gift for the readers in your life.

Your Favorites: June 2013

June was heavy with softball related posts, A1c talk and more book stuff than I imagined would still be going on. The book stuff is still happening because of the overwhelming support that you all showed when my initial Yahoo based interview with Katie Couric was posted a few weeks ago. That post was so popular and well shared on Yahoo that they just ran it again on their front page yesterday, this time with a 'Yahoo Favorite' tag attached! So amazingly touching and cool... That video led to me being invited on to Katie's television show, which led to me being asked to write a blog for her website, which led to... oh wait, I'm not allowed to talk about that just yet.

On to the a recap of your favorite blog posts for June 2013.

I'm posting the March 'Your Favorites' just a bit before the end of the month because next week is going to be overrun with book talk and I don't want this post to get lost in the confusion.

My first book, 'Life Is Short, Laundry Is Eternal: Confessions of the Stay-At-Home Dad' will be officially released next week on April 2nd. You can get it on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kindle and NOOK today, but iBooks and in-store purchases won't go live until this Tuesday (April 2nd).

I hope you understand that my level of excitement about the release will likely border on childishly high. I promise that excitement will only overtake Arden's Day next week. Then it's back to it.

After the smoke clears... I'm working up the nerve to write in detail about Arden's first seizure, we'll be talking about the new OmniPod and much more. Until then, I hope you can give me a pass - because I am going to be out of my mind excited next week... I'll be posting reviews, links, reader pictures, personal thoughts on seeing my first book published and lots of other book centric blogs. I hope that you enjoy the ride because without you... I'm not taking it.

My heartfelt best,

Scott

Arden: I had a sensitive moment. When you have diabetes sometimes your blood sugar gets low and you have sensitive moments.

Me: I see

Arden: I had one on Saturday and it made me pissy.

Me: {silence}

The post that received the most 'likes' was a picture.

Thank you for making February 2013 the most popular in the history of Arden's Day. This blog will be celebrating it's six year anniversary this summer and the number of people that read Arden's story in February is greater then the number of people that read Arden's Day, in it's entirety, over the first three months that it was online. I can't believe how much Arden's Day has grown, and it's all because of you.

Last night my new book was number one on the Amazon Hot New Releases list in the Fatherhood category (U.S.) for over six hours and number three on the same list in the UK. I was so proud (I called my mom) and simultaneously so incredibly overwhelmed by the support that our community gives to one another. It is staggering and a testament to why the DOC is so strong and helpful to the people that are a part of it. I'm proud to be a member of this group and genuinly touched by the love that it has shown me, my family, the book and this blog that I adore.

Best,

Scott
