JDRF Award Luncheon

Scott Benner

The Eastern PA Chapter of the JDRF held their awards luncheon today at Citizen’s Bank Park.  We were treated to a behind the scenes tour of the park, a nice lunch and an awards ceremony.  Arden received an individual award and our walk team was also recognized.

It was a very emotional afternoon.  Being surrounded by so many people that are personally effected by this disease was a bit overwhelming at times.  There was one particular walk team there that I want to remember to tell you all about some time soon.

All of the people in that room raised large amounts of money for the JDRF.  And they all did it the same way.  By enlisting friends, family and co-workers.  The ‘Walk for Arden’ team was given an award today because of your kindness and hard work!  You are the team...  Thank you!

Have you seen our new video?  Six Month’s Worth of Used Needles

Heather
I was watching another video on youtube about a Type 1 Diabetic Mom when I saw your video off to the right and clicked on it.  Very Impressed, great video and very emotional.  I am a mother of a Type 1 Diabetic who is 3 years old.  My daughter Olivia was diagnosed at 7 months old.  She has been on an insulin pump since she was 18 months old and it has changed our lives.  We love the freedom and flexibility of it and it has brought her A1cs down quite a bit.  I have enjoyed your site so far and plan on reading more.  Thanks for your dedication to your daughter and finding a cure!

I just realized that my daughter Olivia was diagnosed on August 21st, 2005, just one year and almost to the day before Arden was diagnosed.  Weird?  And they are both three and girls.  We have a lot in common.

Hi Heather,

I see you get free time the same time of day I do... :)

It's nice to meet you!  I hope you enjoy and share the site.  It must have been insanely difficult to dose a 7 month old!  Even I can't imagine that and I can draw a "drop" of insulin with the best of them...  Hope to speak to you again!
